What does PsychoPy mean?

PsychoPy... Ok, Psycho = Psychology, makes sense. But Py? Is this only about making the name sound a bit nicer and cooler?

No, it actually is not because Py stands for Python and by that not the snake is being referred to, but the programming language. But even if you don't know how to code, you do still not need to be afraid to be killed by the programming language as you would be by the snake.

To build experiments using PsychoPy, you sometimes actually don't even need to code at all. The experiment will just be run in Python then. Nonetheless, you can code your experiment completely in PsychoPy. Therefore, it is suitable for people with no as well as for people with advanced coding abilities. But this will also be explained in our general instructions more in detail.

What is PsychoPy suitable for?

We, the INF project, recommend PsychoPy for Offline experiments like for example such that take place in a laboratory in presence. If you are now interested in PsychoPy, we cannot blame you!
