Psycholinguistics not boring for once, ayy!

What does ExPsyLing mean?

Psycholinguistic experiments? Well, if you put it like that, then it's definitely going to be boring. That's why this website is called ExPsyLing (Experiments PsychoLinguistics)? That is a lot better already and it nearly rhymes with exciting!

What does ExPsyLing do?

ExPsyLing offers an insight into the design of especially psychological or psycholinguistic experiments. Although, it will not be explained here what psycholinguistic experiments there are and what you find out with them. After all, you can already find more information about that on ExPeriWie . There, you can test the experiments yourself, get individual evaluations, and learn what the experiments' actual purposes are.

On ExPsyLing, the technical part is discussed instead: Like how you build an experiment on the computer. This will be explained for two common psycholinguistic applications: JSPsych and PsychoPy. We're primarily going to deal with the experiments that can be found on ExPeriWie. As JSPsych and PsychoPy were developed for being used on a computer, we recommend that you use ExPsyLing on a computer, too.

Who are we?

We are the staff of the Infrastructure project (INF project) of the Collaborative Research Centre 1646 (CRC 1646) of Bielefeld University, Germany . The CRC does research on Linguistic Creativity in Communication. The INF project is supposed to help with the collection of language data and its (re-)use. That is what this site is for, too. After all, here you can learn how to collect language data. Regardless, everybody is welcome to check out ExPsyLing, of course, no matter if you are part of Bielefeld University or not.

So, look around on ExPsyLing and also check out the other websites of the CRC, if you want to!
